Rating Recent Social Media and Fashion Trends
As social media continues to promote new products and endless scrolling rates skyrocket, new trends have come about. As a teenage girl, it is common to be inspired quickly by influencers reviewing and testing out new trends, although half of them are fake because they are being paid for it. As a constant tik-tok scroller, here are a few recent trends I have seen and my thoughts on them.
Low-rise jeans
In my opinion, these can be very hit or miss. It all comes down to where they sit on your hips, what the style is, what color, but most of all, how they are styled. I think if they are paired with the right top they can upscale an outfit tremendously. As a short 5’3 girl with an even shorter torso, I find low-rise jeans to be very unflattering on me. I don’t tend to lean towards them, however I think they look amazing on other people. Here are a few examples of ways I love low-rise jeans to be paired.
Soap Brows
I feel as if this is quite a controversial makeup topic, as those who rock the laminated brow look are very passionate about them. Some people hate the way they look, and others love them. I think soap brows to the extreme can be misleading and look off with some makeup looks. Of course, the Victoria Secret models tend to pull them off very well due to the snatched jawline initially, but I think they definitely do not suit everyone.
Moon Boots
Oh boy. I feel like I could get hate for this one. In my opinion, I think these boots would go with just about nothing. Honestly, I think the price is the worst. I can’t fathom paying up to $300 for a pair of shoes that looks like you literally just went and walked on the moon. I don’t think I will ever get behind this trend, sorry! If you wear them, rock them, but you won’t find me wearing moon boots.
Hot Pilates
Everyone knows the “Pilates princess” build has been trending for over a year now, and hot Pilates studios are quickly earning membership highs. As a previous Pilates girl myself, I definitely understand the hype. With a $25 cancellation fee, signing up for a class pretty much means you have to stick with it. This definitely motivates me to go. The hot sauna will get you your first couple times, as it is much more exhausting than you think. Lifting 3-5lb weights is much more exhausting than you think. However, I have to admit, at the end of the class you feel like a completely new person. I walked out of the sauna feeling like I just conquered the world and could go on with my day. My only con is that as it’s becoming even more popular the classes become booked so fast you have to book your class a week in advance!
